How to decorate with blue in 2024.

Mid blue bedroom

Blue, the nations favourite colour (so they say!) is having a little moment and I’m seeing an explosion of blue for the home both in the showrooms and across the highstreet. It’s not really a colour that goes away with searches for blues across Pinterest and Google always high but this current mid tone blue which is super calming is slightly different to what we’ve seen before and I’m here for it!

In this post I’m going to show you some of the latest blue homewares and give you some tips on how you can use them in your home and which colours to pair them with for ultimate impact. Let’s learn how to embrace this home decor trend and decorate with blues in 2024!

First up is this rather sumptuous headboard

John Lewis Nyra Headboard.

I love the wavy pattern and I think it looks really high end - click over as you won’t believe the price! This would look AMAZING with a deeper blue behind it or a soft muddy pink such as Little Greene china clay deep or Farrow and Ball - Setting Plaster. Throw in a lil red somewhere in the space and POW you got yourself a room to be proud of.

If it’s more a wall colour you’re after to satisfy that mid blue craving look no further than Farrow and Ball Oval room blue

Blue Hallway with black and white floor tiles in a period property.

Described as one of their more blackened blues it gives and aged feel and with it being mid tone it really packs a punch and has such depth. It would look perfect in any space.

This looks great pared with a Jute rug and little pops of soft pink or deep red accessories. If you don’t want to jump the colour wheel to red then pairing it with a deeper blue will look super smart and will be very calming.

Next up is this lampshade from Birdie Fortescue PSA but they do a lovely range of lamp bases in varying colours so you can mix and match the bases and shades to create your own unique combination. Fabric (I say Granny chic) lampshades are definitely very in at the moment but with their classic style and comforting look I don’t think they’'ll be going anywhere any time soon.

Blue home decor accessories are ten a penny at the moment so you’ll be able to find loads across the highstreet but I did see this rather cute striped vase and throught it could look lovely with a pop of yellow daffodils seeing as it’s spring (apparently) or some of my personal favourite stems gypsophilia.

Blue rug

When I first saw this rug I cried a little at it’s beauty and rich texture. This hand woven, 100% wool true masterpiece would be the star of any space be that, ugrading existing decor or transforming a room from scratch. It’s a little on the spenny side but a worthy investment in quality and comfort I’d say. I think it would look GREAT paired with a soft green or light dusky pink and if you do get one please let me know as I’d love to see it in your home!

Finally, and to close this round up of my top blue homewares and decor tips I couldn’t not mention these striped cushion covers from Dunelm. They’re so gorgeous and come in several colours at such affordable prices. Cushions are such a great way of injecting a new colour in to your home and giving it a little spring freshen up so if you’re tempted by a little bit of blue than cushions and small accessories are the perfect way to start without breaking the bank.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little round up of my favourite blue homewares for spring 2024 and it has given you some ideas for injecting blue in to your home and embracing the mid tones of the season.

I love injecting muted colour in to peoples homes alongside neutrals and natural materials and understand so many people feel the overwhelm when creating a home decor scheme - if this sounds like you and you would like my help with your next Interior Design project then click here and set up a call.
